Master the Waves: Get Your Powerboat Licence in Just One Weekend!

Age 12+ | 9:30am-5pm | Saturday - Sunday

The Royal Yachting Association Powerboat Level 2 certificate is the driving license of powerboating. This weekend course will give you the skills to drive a powerboat competently and safely. No previous experience is required. Suitable for anyone aged 12+ (all students under 16 will received the Under 16 endorsement on any level 2 certificate issued). 

We will provide:

  • Training on a Rigiflex 360 15hp tiller steer and our 5.3m 50hp Humber RIB, including fuel.
  • A copy of the RYA Start Powerboating (G48) and the RYA Powerboat Scheme Syllabus and Logbook.

Please bring with you:

  • A standard passport photo for your Level 2 certificate upon successful completion.

Course Schedule:
Day 1 Day 2
  • Introductions and details of how the course will be run.
  • Clothing & equipment for going afloat.
  • Boat equipment familiarization.
  • Boat launching & boat controls.
  • Various on the water exercises.
  • LUNCH
  • Shore based theory session.
  • Out on the water to carry out more exercises.
  • Boat off the water aprox 4pm.
  • Final session for the day of shore based exercises.
  • Finish at 5pm

 

  • Recap from day 1
  • Short shore based session.
  • Introduction to a RIB
  • Launch and learn how to control the boat.
  • How to travel at speed safely.
  • LUNCH
  • Shore based session covering basic navigation.
  • On water exercises including following a planned route.
  • Additional on water exercises.
  • Boat off the water around 4pm.
  • Final shore based session.
  • Finish at 5pm
